Built in the 1970s and located near the Hollywood Airport, bluespace interiors’ previous showroom needed to be converted into a space that matched the growth of their company while remaining abreast of current work trends. Lacking the ability to tour guests and demonstrate bluespace’s full capabilities, the vision of the remodeled space would act as an operational showroom that would highlight furniture vignettes in a functional way. The office space, prior to renovation, was limited in bringing working members of the A&D community together to spur design concepts during collaboration meetings. Needing to house full-time and hybrid employees, the old working environment did not support dynamic working styles and was limited to flexible options that required a division of spaces for multiple needs. The previous breakroom did not offer ample space for employees to break away and recharge.

With bluespace’s team of workplace experts partnering with the architecture firm RA-DA, the possibilities of a renovated showroom were endless. Aligning with bluespace’s company culture, they turned to their manufacturing partners to curate sustainable, flexible and ergonomic solutions. With the advancement in architectural glass wall systems from Teknion, bluespace was able to add enclosed workspaces without interfering with the building’s structure. This moved personal offices from the perimeter of the building and offered essential daylight to the entire operational showroom. To enhance productivity and versatility, bluespace continued to showcase Teknion’s capabilities with furniture vignettes that not only demonstrated real applications in a working environment, but also offered inspiration to touring guests. Open collaboration spaces, workstations and quiet zones are also showcased from Studio TK, The HON Company and OFS.

By working with RA-DA and manufacturing partners, bluespace was able to express their company culture through creative and thoughtful design. The redesigned showroom brings to life a more creative workspace and collaborative way of working. A library of design resources was created for A&D members to source and gain inspiration for design. By updating private offices, workstations and hoteling options, bluespace employees were provided with various options to remain productive, regardless of their workstyle needs. The previous breakroom was converted into an open concept space that would invite both employees and visiting guests to sit back, relax and refresh. Now, when you step into the showroom, you will be greeted by an environment that welcomes employees and guests into a space that provides something for everyone.
