bluespace interiors attended the Annual CoreNet SoCal Education Summit, a member-focused event that offered time to connect with industry peers and hear from keynote speaker Priya Parker, author of The Art of Gathering.
The summit felt like a special treat for members, and Parker’s conversation was a highlight, with practical ideas for making meetings and events more purposeful.
Start with purpose
One of our biggest takeaways was to establish why a gathering is happening before planning the details. A clear purpose helps guide the agenda and the experience people will have.
Parker’s conversation also explored the intention needed to create a connection. Sharing a room doesn’t guarantee a meaningful exchange. Hosts play a big part in helping people feel comfortable participating and giving conversations a place to start.
Think through the whole gathering
The experience begins with how people are welcomed and continues through the way they interact and how the gathering ends. Each stage deserves attention.
We appreciated the reminder that even small changes can make a meeting or event more memorable. A thoughtful welcome or an opportunity for people to meet someone new can help make their time together feel worthwhile.
A connection to our work
These ideas feel especially relevant to an industry built around relationships. Client meetings, project collaboration, and industry events all depend on people connecting with one another.
For bluespace interiors, the conversation also connects to the spaces that support those interactions. Understanding why people are coming together helps inform how a space can serve them. A team meeting and a member reception have different needs, and the planning should reflect those differences.
