Founded in 1944, this prestigious law firm, specializing in litigation law, is headquartered in Seattle, Washington, and has offices in ten other cities across the United States, including Washington DC.

As a forward-thinking business, this firm needed to rethink their current office space with a renewed workplace strategy that reflected the ever-changing needs of their business. Due to increasing rental costs, the firm looked to smaller private office spaces to help minimize the usage of square feet, while seeking to upgrade lounge and common areas to better serve their hybrid work culture. Needing to house full-time and hybrid employees, the previous working environment did not support dynamic working styles and was limited to flexible options that required a division of spaces for multiple needs.

bluespace interiors was called upon to help craft the firm’s workplace strategy through solution-centric design. Using a powerhouse team of manufacturers, bluespace discovered unmet user needs and design furniture solutions that supported a wide range of work styles and preferences. Private offices were furnished using Coriander Designs, ESI ergonomic solutions, Collaborative Spaces, Trinity seating and ergoCentric Seating. Lounge and common areas were furnished using Davis, OFS, HNI, Keilhauer, NuCraft, Coriander, Trinity, Special T and Stylex manufacturers. Although the private offices were specified with modern and ergonomic height-adjustable furniture, they still retained a traditional law firm aesthetic. Lounge and common areas were designed as inviting spaces, equipped with a foosball table to encourage recreational activities for employees to connect and recharge.

Overseeing the entire process, bluespace interiors also served as an agile project manager to ensure all went according to plan, in the areas of space planning, furniture specification, cost estimation and all installation logistics. Several obstacles were foreseen and overcome: the COVID-19 pandemic caused continuous changes in lead times for product. The relocation of offices was required to be on schedule to prevent the firm from incurring over-market rental fees. The bluespace team met the firm’s design criteria at lower costs than designer selected lines, while seamlessly managing installation and move companies to ensure that the job was completed to professional standards per the required timeline. As a result, no additional charges were incurred, bringing the project under budget and on time.
